Spring Break 2019

I’m starting something new – a weekly blog. My goal for 2019 is to establish even more of a relationship with the people who read my books.

So far, my kick butt Facebook group has been absolutely amazing for that. I feel like I know so many people just from my interactions with them in the group even though we’ve never met in person – YET!**

But I also want to have a connection outside of a social media platform. I would hope that Facebook would never disappear or that I wouldn’t lose the ability to interact with people that way, but it happens.

Years ago, people who liked your author page would see all your posts. Not anymore. For now, groups have replaced them for the best way to interact, but that could also change. So I’m not putting all my eggs in one basket. I would be incredibly upset if I lost the ability to connect with readers.

I think a blog on a website that I own is the best place to do that. So I’m going to give it a try. Here we go!

Arizona

After months of anticipation, we hopped on a plane last weekend and headed to Phoenix to visit family.

The first few days were a bit chilly, but then the sun and warmth came in all its glory. I spent every second I could outside. We ate lots of Mexican food — homemade and from a roadside restaurant where I had the most delicious chorizo breakfast burrito. I haven’t had one that delicious since I lived in L.A. and would buy them off the street trucks. So yummy.

It was even better than the In & Out cheeseburger I had. And the Shamrock Shake. I am trying to cut sugar out of my diet, but I make an exception this time of year when the Shamrock Shake comes to McDonalds. Although I don’t eat their food (my kids do) I MOST DEFINITELY get a Shamrock shake every March! Yeah, baby.

(I sent out my fake Shamrock Shake recipe in my last newsletter). If you haven’t subscribed to my newsletter, you can do so HERE. I’ll send you Deadly as a thank you gift.

We didn’t do a whole lot during our visit to Phoenix, which is exactly the way I like to spend my vacations. Eating good food (like like chorizo burrito from Jacky’s I mentioned – PS it was the size of my head!), taking dogs to the dog park, playing bocce, lounging around having naps, and soaking up the sun poolside. I wasn’t a total sloth, though. I did fit in a few days of working out and walking and running.

It’s so much easier to exercise when you can be outside to do so, right?

We did Puppy Talk Coffee Talk at my brother’s house with his cute puppy, Ashley. You can check it out HERE.

I managed to squeeze in some writing and am making really good progress on the Queen of Spades book (out May 23rd) I seriously cannot even express how much I love, love, love writing this book. I’ve been thinking about writing it for at least a year. I just didn’t want to take a break from writing the Gia series to do so, but I think squeezing it in between Gia books is the right thing to do.

What do you think of having a weekly blog?

Let me know in the comments.

Also, you can find a lot of information about my books and writing, etc., on this website if you want to explore. For instance, HERE is a printable list of my books:

**Reader Retreat. What do you think about a Reader Retreat one day where I can meet readers in person and we can do all sorts of fun things? Let me know in the comments.

  1. I love the idea of a writers’ retreat – especially in Phoenix! (My daughter lives in Scottsdale)
Thanks for sharing your infectious excitement for writing! Helps to keep me motivated!

  2. Hi Loreen,
I do have a few coming up. I think one in the summer and maybe one next month. I’ll definitely post about it!

  3. I like the blog idea. I want an In & Out burger now, thanks! A reader retreat would be fun, but logistically difficult I would think. Also do you have any local book signings scheduled?

  4. It might be tough for some people to attend because it would most likely be somewhere warm and sunny, though. Maybe a four day retreat … just brainstorming at this stage! This wouldn’t happen for a long time …

  5. I love it! So personal & lets us know more about you! My hubby & I love the taco trucks! We visited one last night. Glad your vacation was fun! Thanks for sharing!❤️

  6. love weekly blogs! also would love to be able to attend a reader retreat, but I am in NJ so probably won’t happen! Love your books and look forward to reading your blogs.
